I consider this my first photography project. No work I have done before this series has allowed me to explore my visual potential quite like this one. In so many ways, I was seeing so much more than I could capture. This said, welcome to "The Faces of Gender Performance." The purpose of this project is to strip away performance and see people through nothing but their faces, not through the performance we often tend to base our opinions on. Quite literally, I wanted viewers to step into the series with the opportunity to look at/into nothing but the faces and the eyes that looked back at them, to make a connection with the people who were watching them without the burden of the judgment the world has taught us so well.
I use a 50mm 1.8 lens at full aperture. This series is in no way complete and will travel its way around the world. Please click on the photograph to see the ones that follow.
